HUD's long-awaited proposed rule on Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) was issued today and will be published in the Federal Register on July 19.  The deadline for comment is 60 days following publication in the Federal Register (approximately September 17).

The Patrick Administration's Department of Housing and Community Development announced the award of almost $4 million in federal Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding to assist homeless and at risk individuals and families in Massachusetts.  The awards include $1.47 million for rapid rehousing to help an estimated 612 individuals move from homeless shelters to permanent housing,  $1.6 million to support 268 unfunded shelter beds for individuals, 37 unfunded beds for non-EA-eligible homeless families and 12 new units for families fleeing domestic violence, and over $850,000 for homelessnes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 9, 2013 Washington, DC – Today, the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC), along with four individual plaintiffs and the Right to the City Alliance, filed a lawsuit against the Acting Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Edward DeMarco, for failing to uphold Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s statutory requirement to make contributions to the National Housing Trust Fund.

HUD published a revised Program Notice for the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program for comment on July 2, 2013.  As detailed in the Federal Register, some of the revisions are effective immediately, but HUD will accept comments on all elements through August 1, 2013.  The revised Notice (PIH 2012-32 Rev1) includes changes in participant eligibility and selection criteria, as well as clarifications of existing instructions, for both the public housin

TD Bank has announced the opening of the application period for its 2013 Housing for Everyone Grant program.  Applications are due by August 30.  The program will award a total of $2.5 million this year to 25 local non-profit organizations that address affordable housing needs in communities served by TD Bank, including $500,000 for organizations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.  The theme of this year’s competition is Neighborhood Revitalization and Stabilization.  Applications for funding must focus on:

On June 25, the Department of Housing and Community Development announced the award of $750,000 in Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) grants to 28 community organizations across the state.  Twenty Seven (27) community development corporations (CDCs) received awards of $25,000 each and the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC) received an award of $75,000.  The grants will support the development or refinement of community investment plans
