The Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) is seeking qualified organizations to provide individual, pre-purchase counseling to buyers of multifamily properties. In January of 2012, MHP is implementing a pre-purchase, individual counseling requirement for buyers of three-family properties. This requirement will be in addition to the pre-purchase homebuyer education requirement. Please click here to download the RFP document.

BOSTON - Thursday, July 7, 2011 - Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray today launched a new public service campaign to inform struggling homeowners about the availability of interest free loans through the Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (EHLP). Administered by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) in conjunction with NeighborWorks America, Massachusetts homeowners are eligible for a total of $61 million in EHLP assistance, and must apply by July 22, 2011.

State Updates State Legislature Passes FY’12 Budget Today, the Massachusetts legislature finalized its FY’12 budget. The Conference Committee adopted level funding for every affordable housing and homelessness prevention program, with the exception of MRVP.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development today released a study that finds the nation’s 1.2 million public housing units need an estimated $25.6 billion for large scale repairs.  This study updates a 1998 analysis and includes costs to address overdue repairs, accessibility improvements for disabled residents, lead abatement, and water and energy conservation that would make the homes more cost effective and energy efficient.

State Updates HUD Announces Disaster Relief for Hampden and Worcester Counties On June 15, President Obama declared Hampden and Worcester counties disaster areas as a result of the storms and tornadoes two weeks earlier and HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan announced that HUD will provide four types of assistance to help affected homeowners and low-income renters:
