Today, The Boston Foundation, The Kitty and Michael Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy at Northeastern University, and The Warren Group released The Greater Boston Housing Report Card 2016.
Since 2002, the annual Housing Report Cards have probed Greater Boston’s housing landscape, keeping tabs on housing construction, home prices and rents. The Report Cards have analyzed the region’s economy, demography and housing, and have kept track of government policies that affect the region’s housing market.
The unifying theme of the 2016 report is that, in spite of a strong commitment to making housing more affordable in the region and despite a variety of imaginative efforts put forward by the Commonwealth and the City of Boston, housing supply is not keeping up with the housing demand of a growing population and, as a result, housing is less affordable than ever.
