Job Description

The Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC) seeks a Public Relations and Marketing Associate to serve as the agency’s liaison for corporate public relations and marketing efforts. CEDAC is a publicly-created community development finance institution (CDFI) that serves as a vital financial and technical assistance resource to nonprofit organizations engaged in effective community development. We provide financial resources and technical expertise for community-based and other nonprofit organizations building thriving communities. We work closely with other Massachusetts and national partners to support affordable housing production and preservation and the expansion and renovation of early education and out of school time programs.

 

CEDAC provides pre-development loans and technical assistance to nonprofit community based organizations involved in community development across Massachusetts. In addition, CEDAC serves as the Department of Housing and Community Development’s (DHCD) underwriting agent and asset manager for multiple state loan programs that provide deferred-payment, zero interest, subordinated permanent mortgage financing (DPL loans) to help meet the costs of producing supportive and affordable housing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Work closely with Executive Director, senior management, and external public relations firm to develop and implement communication and marketing strategies for both CEDAC and Children’s Investment Fund that fit with organization goals. Stay up-to-date on current marketing and communication practices and proactively propose strategies to keep organization in line with modern practices.
  2. Manage all content creation and implementation, working with Executive Director and staff to develop story ideas, blog posts, etc. around CEDAC’s work and the work of its community partners.
  3. Develop and coordinate the production of electronic and printed public relations and marketing materials for CEDAC and Children’s Investment Fund (ex. Annual reports, marketing brochure, and program brochures). This includes the selection and management of an external team of graphic designers, photographers, and other consultants as needed.
  4. Draft and/or assist in drafting public relations and marketing materials. This includes, but is not limited to, press releases, newsletter articles, blog posts, op eds, and legislative letters that publicize award of CEDAC assistance. Review and edit any additional communications materials as requested by senior staff.
  5. Develop and maintain weekly blog content and schedule. Manage draft development, review process, publication, and email announcement.
  6. Manage and monitor the work of our external public relations and marketing firm and facilitate bi-weekly update calls with senior management.
  7. Serve as webmaster for two program websites. Revise content as directed by program staff and proactively seek content updates. Suggest content and/or functionality improvement of websites to maximize user experience of website and member dashboard.
  8. Oversee CEDAC’s social media platforms, updating with current and timely information and monitoring engagement. Work to build social communities and increase engagement with relevant, quality content.
  9. Manage email marketing efforts, including CEDAC’s quarterly newsletter, Children’s Investment Fund’s quarterly newsletter, and any other necessary email communication.
  10. Monitor and document press activity for news involving CEDAC, Children’s Investment Fund, and their community development partners. Collect and utilize quotes for marketing and communications activities.
  11. Ensure proper use of CEDAC brand by internal and external parties. Guarantee that all communications materials are prepared in a manner that is consistent with our branding strategy.
  12. Track events held by partner organizations. Publish the listing for staff, and notify funders of events of interest.
  13. Assist in event coordination as needed with administrative team, including open houses, regional forums, and trainings.
  14. Attend corporate board meetings for CEDAC and the Children’s Investment Fund and take minutes of both meetings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations required. Relevant coursework can be substituted for experience.
  • Strong writing, design, and marketing skills (including digital marketing).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, MailChimp, and Adobe Creative Suite. Candidate must have proven capacity to learn other computer applications as necessary.
  • The qualified candidate will be a person who is a quick study, well organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with strong work experience required.

Salary is commensurate with experience. CEDAC offers an excellent fringe benefit package.
