The Boston-based Commercial Loan Officer III will be responsible for working as a high-level member of the Bank’s 4-member Boston-based Community Development/CRE lending and relationship management team. The Commercial Loan Officer III will be responsible for direct management of important CD/CRE relationships and will over time take on greater responsibility for CD/CRE team policy and management issues in the Bank’s New England and California service areas.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Business Development
Responsible for direct management of important CD/CRE relationships and the business development opportunities flowing from these relationships, such as with selected community development corporations and for-profit CD developers in the Bank’s New England service area. Secondary and back-up management responsibility for the Bank’s CD/CRE activities in its California service areas (which are directly managed by a California-based CD/CRE loan officer and the CD/CRE Team Leader).
Responsible in collaboration with the Team Leader for ongoing outreach for new opportunities among CD developers new to the Bank in the Bank’s New England service area.
Responsible for closing new loans and increasing team “outstandings” related to CD/CRE, consistent with an individual goal each year, as assigned by Bank management.
Responsible for introducing new clients to the Bank’s deposit, residential lending and wealth management business lines.
Credit Quality/Portfolio Management: While maintaining a strong customer focus, customer acquisition/growth and customer relations, manage a substantial CD/CRE loan portfolio with support from other team members. Understand, adopt, and adhere to the Bank’s Loan Policy. Maintain comprehensive and current credit files. Monitor risk (delinquencies, overdrafts, etc.). Provide timely information to management regarding potential portfolio issues.
Community Development/CRE Team: Second in responsibility for overall team direction and performance in the CD/CRE space. Directly support the CD/CRE Team Leader with internal and external policy and relationships. Provide critical liaison with internal and external contacts
Qualifications:
BS/BA. MA in related field (e.g. MBA; Urban Planning) very desirable.
3-5 years of direct experience in Community Development, preferably in Massachusetts. Direct experience with CD financing programs and CD deal structuring. Direct experience with CD deal closings.
Bank or other lending experience and/or Bank Commercial Credit Training experience desirable.
Excellent communication and client service skills required
Proficient with Microsoft Office. Excellent quantitative/analytical and oral/written skills
Proficient in multi-tasking in a team-oriented environment focused on the highest standards of client service.
