Job Description

Resident Service Coordinator

 

Summary Promotes tenant welfare in moderate to low- income developments by performing the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.

Welcomes all new residents, and explains the availability of resident services

Facilitates establishment of constructive relationships between tenants and housing management, and among tenants.

Advise Homemakers/residents needing assistance in child care, food, money, and housekeeping problems.

Provides information on location and nature of available community services such as clinics and recreation centers.

Promotes and coordinates activities of agencies, groups, and individuals to meet identified needs.

Studies and assesses strength and weakness of existing resources.

Prepares reports and disseminates information.

Maintains contact with representatives of other organizations to exchange and update information on resources and services available.

Visits residents in their unit as needed

Encourages residents to do things for themselves to retain feelings of independence and self-esteem.

Provides leadership to residents in development of group activities such as adult education and recreation.

Identifies residents needs, recommends and connects residents with the appropriate programs or services as requested.

Provides consultation to staff on specific cases involving residents.

Cooperates with other organizations in development of understanding and interest among voluntary and public agencies participating in long range plans for urban improvement.

Prepares and maintains secure written case records, reports, and forms.

Performs case follow-up and closing, and performs other administrative tasks as required.

Education and/or Experience                                                                                                                                  

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills                                                                                                                                    

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                                                                                                                

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability                                                                                                                                                    

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills                                                                                                                                                      

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Access Database software; Windows Internet Explorer Internet software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.

Salary $36,000.00 - $40,000.00 Annually
