Job Description

The Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) is a national leader in affordable housing finance and a primary lender in Massachusetts for the financing of affordable and mixed-income rental housing.  MHP is a mission-driven non-profit public agency and an approved Fannie Mae MAH lender, FHA MAP lender, and FHA Risk-Sharing lender with over $1.2 billion in credit lines from Massachusetts banks.  We are seeking an experienced real estate professional to join our team of affordable housing lenders.

                                               

Responsibilities:   Independently underwrite loans, conduct site visits, review and analyze third party reports, and present final narrative analysis to internal and external loan committees and MHP’s board of directors for approval.  Manage relationships with borrowers during the underwriting and closing process.  Manage Fannie Mae credit submission and underwriting review process, working with MHP’s Chief Underwriter. 

 

Qualifications:   The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience underwriting multifamily loans including at least 2-3 years’ experience underwriting loans with a Fannie Mae DUS lender.  Thorough working knowledge of the Fannie Mae guidelines and product lines (e.g. M.TEB, SARM, ROAR, LIHTC forward products) is strongly preferred.  Ability to analyze complex ownership structures, accurately assess market dynamics, and underwrite complicated real estate finance structures (mixed-use condos, ground leases, senior use restrictions, sub/mezz debt, etc.) is essential.  Strong analytical and Excel skills and excellent communications and presentation skills are required.  Must be very organized and detail-oriented.  A thorough working knowledge of affordable housing programs is preferred.  Bachelor's degree is required.
