Way Finders is currently seeking a full-time Human Resources GeneralistThe HR Generalist contributes to our mission by providing a breadth of supports and expertise to the human resources team, and will function as a primary backup across several disciplines while working as a sole contributor when necessary.

This is a new position in our growing HR department, and will be a welcome addition to our current 5-person team that serves approximately 350 Way Finders employees!

The candidate will work in a hybrid-remote manner as appropriate to the needs of the department, roughly three days per week onsite.  Living within commutable distance is required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide high-level support in the areas of payroll and benefits administrationstaff onboarding, development, and performance management; and in the resolution of personnel matters
  • Provide new hire orientations as scheduled and necessary, including ensuring that materials are prepared in advance and all onboarding is completed according to regulations and best practices
  • Proactively review and update training opportunities for staff; collaborate with leadership to set achievable completion goals; reevaluate and adjust to support success
  • Act as a fully functioning payroll backup and benefits administrator
  • Lead and facilitate required and recommended organizational training in a manner that is considerate of varying learning styles; provide feedback to supervisor and human resources team on successes, areas for improvement, and potential for future learning development
  • Administer the performance management system and staff development programs in a clear and timely manner; keep updated, accurate records; run, analyze, and distribute reports that provide insight into successes, areas for improvement, and trends
  • Collaborate with supervisor(s) to resolve personnel matters; conduct thorough, confidential investigations that adhere to laws, equity issues, and HR standards; provide employees with clear options, if available, direction, and fair timelines for follow-up action
  • Proactively notify leadership on any matters that may have an adverse effect on the organization
  • Proactively support manager and leadership by remaining current with employment laws, regulations, reporting requirements, and industry trends; assist in organization-wide communication as necessary

Requirements include:

  • 5 years’ experience in human resources with 1 year as a generalist; a combination of similar experience plus a bachelor’s degree may be a substitute
  • Demonstrated knowledge of processes and best practices in payroll and benefits administration, onboarding, staff development, and performance management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and human resource information systems (HRIS) applications, and comfort learning and training others on new technologies
  • Advanced organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, plus the ability to reprioritize for self and staff to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required
