The Town of Barnstable is seeking qualified candidates for a Housing Coordinator in the Planning & Development Department.  The Housing Coordinator will be responsible for advancing the Town’s housing goals and policies and managing the Town’s housing programs and inventories.  The Housing Coordinator also contributes to long-range planning and zoning initiatives, and works collaboratively with the public, community partners and other Town departments on plans, programs, and priorities to address present and future housing needs.   The Housing Coordinator provides technical support to the Town’s Housing Committee and Affordable Housing Trust.

The Town of Barnstable, Massachusetts is a dynamic coastal community with a year-round population of 45,000 and a seasonal peak population of 150,000. Barnstable is a historic municipality comprised of seven distinct villages, including Hyannis, the economic, transportation, and government hub of Cape Cod.

We are seeking a creative, team-oriented, and experienced professional capable of independently managing complex projects and collaboration and partnership-building.  Successful candidates will have advanced experience, strong public presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, public administration, social science, or a related field; and seven years of progressively responsible experience in at least one of the following areas: affordable housing, comprehensive planning, or community and economic development.  A Master’s degree in one of the above planning fields may be substituted for one (1) years of experience.
