Job Description

Harborlight Homes is a leader in providing service-enriched affordable housing throughout the North Shore region. As one of the oldest and largest nonprofit affordable housing providers in the area, we strive to make home happen for everyone.  Harborlight Homes is seeking an experienced Facilities Director to lead our organization through continued growth, long-term planning, and maintenance of our properties.  

In this role, you be instrumental in identifying, planning and executing capital projects to enhance the safety, functionality, and sustainability of Harborlight Homes properties.  The Facilities Director collaborates closely with internal teams, external vendors and contractors, and stakeholders to ensure that capital improvement projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality contributing to the mission, vision, and values of Harborlight Homes.  On a regular day, you will develop plans for capital improvements and preventative maintenance across our affordable housing portfolio, create and implement processes, prioritize projects, lead renovations, repairs, upgrades and expansions from conception through execution, prepare budgets, estimates, and forecasts, oversee contractors, architects, and other service providers involved in projects, ensure reliability of all building mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management systems, negotiate contracts and ensure compliance.  In addition, the Facilities Director will implement quality control measures and incorporate sustainable and energy-efficient practices into projects.

You are highly organized and precise, able to maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.  You are a true people leader, able to inspire and motivate while moving projects forward and holding high standards and expectations.  You are an expert in construction methods, building systems and codes and regulations. You are a problem-solver with a positive outlook and ability to identify creative solutions to complex challenges.  

Experience & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role in facilities management, construction management, or related field, with a focus on capital improvement projects. 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing capital improvement projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution. 
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools. 
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for serving low-income and vulnerable populations.  
  • Valid contractors license and registration preferred
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the North Shore region.
