Job Description

Description: The Arlington Housing Authority is seeking a highly motivated, professional, responsible individual for part- time employment (18 hours per week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) as an Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk. The position will be responsible for assisting with accounts payable and receivable, assisting with internal and external financial reporting, and general accounting. The position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

 

Responsibilities of this position may include the following:

 

  • Assisting with the completion of payments and expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
  • Assisting with paying vendors while monitoring contracts, verifying federal id numbers, tax exemption and scheduling and preparing checks
  • Assisting with maintaining accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
  • Assisting with completing bi-weekly payroll via ADP
  • Reconciling account payable ledgers on a monthly basis. and assisting in preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Ensuring payments are processed in compliance with AHA policies and procedures, reviewing for appropriate authorizations, proper coding and distribution accuracy and issuance.
  • Issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments involving payment discrepancies and documentation
  • Assisting with monitoring and analyzing reports and metrics to ensure accordance with budgets and grant management.
  • Performing various data entry functions, including daily rent posting. 
  • Assisting with new employee on-boarding including communication of AHA policies, employee handbook, and benefits package
  • Assisting with ensuring time and attendance is up to date in Pay Chex system.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, use sound judgment in analyzing situations, and make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with third party accountants and auditors to complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial schedules, reporting, and audits.
  • General knowledge of HUD Housing Choice Voucher, EOHLC public housing, other relevant HUD/federal/state programs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, or Director of Finance.

 

Salary Range: Part-time position 18 hours/week at $30.00/hour. 

 

Start Date: Immediately

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree or a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a related field.
  2. Accounting and Financial reporting experience
  3. High level of integrity; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  4. Attention to detail; ability to multi-task while staying organized.
  5. Adept at using Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook, and ability to quickly learn computer software programs.
  6. Ability to type quickly and accurately, and to use office equipment such as phones, fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
  7. Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions.
  8. Ability to work cooperatively and pleasantly with a diverse population.
