Governor Patrick Makes Cuts to State Budget to Accomodate FY2013 Shortfall - December 5, 2012

Pursuant to Section 9C of Chapter 29 of the Massachusetts General Laws, Governor Patrick, yesterday, made cuts to the FY2013 state budget to compensate for a $540 million shortfall due to slower-than-expected tax collections. While the Governor was required to make cuts across the board, affordable housing programs took a relatively small hit. DHCD was cut by $1.25 million and due to unforseen savings of $113 million under the Health Connector Authority, $44.3 million of the savings were proposed to be reallocated to address family homelessness, pending legislation ($39 million increase in Family Homeless Services and $5.3 million increase to RAFT).
