In late 2008, CHAPA and The Warren Group developed an online
database of foreclosed properties in Massachusetts to assist communities with tracking
and acquiring foreclosed properties. The database has recently undergone
significant upgrades with an improved interface, enhanced search functions, and
additional features for tracking foreclosures trends in a community.
The database includes the following information:
Foreclosure Petitions and Lis Pendens
Auctions
Real Estate Owned (REO) Properties
Adjustable-Rate Mortgages
Tax Lien Data
Sales and Mortgage History
New features:
Trendsline Module is a new feature of the database that generates
statistical reports, charts and graphs of foreclosure activity in a
community. Statistics are provided for
the entire state, individual counties, specific towns, zip codes and census
track.
Users can:
Access the database with a username and password
Target specific streets and neighborhoods
Download 300 entries per search (maximum 600 searches per month)
Fee:
The cost is $720 for a year’s subscription ($60 per month) for 1-10
communities or $1,200 for statewide data ($100 per month). Subscribers must be members of CHAPA.
To learn more about the database please contact Geeta Rao at CHAPA at 617-742-0820 or via email at grao@chapa.org.
On January 7, 2009, the Massachusetts Division of Banks opened its online database of Massachusetts foreclosure notices to the general public. The web-based resource, available at www.mass.gov/dob, allows the Division to study trends and better focus foreclosure examination efforts.
Community organizations and regional housing agencies will be able to use the tracking feature to better focus their relief efforts or to study trends and allocate their funds accordingly.
