DHCD Releases Revised Public Housing Regulations - May 9, 2017

On May 5th, DHCD released revised regulations for public housing in Massachusetts. Specifically, DHCD promulgated new regulations for:

DHCD Releases NOFA for “A Better Life” Planning Grants for Local Housing Authorities - May 8, 2017

On May 3rd, DHCD released a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for A Better Life (ABL) planning grants. DHCD will award up to $500,000 in planning grants for up to five local housing authorities to research, design, and prepare to launch the ABL program in their state-aided public housing portfolio. ABL was originally designed by the Worcester Housing Authority to help public housing residents achieve economic self-sufficiency, which may include moving to private sector housing, increasing incomes, and building assets.

Congress Agrees on FY2017 Budget - May 1, 2017

On May 1, Congress reached an agreement on an FY2017 budget that will fund the federal government through September and averts a government shut down. The spending package is expected to be voted on later this week before the current Continuing Resolution ends on May 5th, a full seven months after the start of the fiscal year in October 2016.

Trump to Nominate Patenaude as Deputy Secretary at HUD - April 28, 2017

The White House announced today that President Donald Trump intends to nominate Pamela Patenaude to serve as Deputy Secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Patenaude is president of the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for America’s Families.

Massachusetts House of Representatives Passes its Final FY2018 Budget - April 27, 2017

Late in the evening on Tuesday, April 25th, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed its final fiscal year 2018 (FY2018) budget recommendation after two days of debate on over 1,200 amendments.  The House budget totaled $40.8 billion, adding nearly $80 million through amendments during the debate process.

Invitation to an Announcement Relative to Affordable Housing Development - April 21, 2017

Governor Baker has announced an event relative to affordable housing developmoent.  The event will be Monday, April 24th at 2:00 p.m. with the Governor, Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, Secretary Jay Ash, and Undersecretary Chrystal Kornegay in Quincy at the Watson Apartments - 116 East Howard St.

HUD Issues 2017 Income Limits - March 10, 2015

On April 18, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued the 2017 income limits that determine eligibility for assisted housing programs including the Public Housing, Section 8 project-based, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, Section 202 housing for the elderly, and Section 811 housing for persons with disabilities programs.
