Job Description

The Vermont Coalition of Runaway & Homeless Youth Programs is seeking the right candidate to become the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project Coordinator!  

Unique opportunity to serve as part of a multi-agency collaborative team that supports a statewide approach to preventing and supporting runaway and homeless youth. The Project Coordinator is the primary leader for implementation of the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project through project management, connecting to state and national partners, and developing and enhancing RHY system responses. The position will facilitate the Youth Homelessness Prevention Planning Committee (YHPPC) and its leadership committee. The Coordinator will also be the primary support for the Youth Action Board (YAB), which is a statewide board of youth ages 14 to 25 with lived experiences of homelessness or precarious housing that meets monthly. The YAB and YHPPC are both sub-committees of the Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness (VCEH)/ Balance of State Continuum of Care and efforts will be conducted in coordination with VCEH.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project (YHDP) planning and implementation with partnering agencies, including Vermont State Housing Authority and the VT Department for Children and Families.
  • Support the Youth Action Board (YAB) through monthly meeting coordination, leadership development, youth recruitment and retention, support for agenda development, note taking, supporting YAB participation in adult partnership venues, oversee fiscal management of YAB reimbursements.
  • Manage monthly Leadership Team meetings and Youth Homelessness Prevention Planning Committee meetings through agenda development, scheduling, note taking, and other technical supports.
  • Support other YHDP subcommittees as needed.
  • Facilitate connections with national technical assistance providers and other Demo Project sites.
  • Assist the YHDP Committee with research, design and composition of proposals and reporting tasks.
  • Participate in assessment and evaluation of YHDP projects.
  • Participate on assigned collaborative meetings including the Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness and youth employment related workgroups.
  • Collect and utilize data to inform program planning.
  • Communicate with representatives from community, state and federal partners as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in human services related field
  • Experience working with youth and/or in housing preferred
  • Strong writing and organization skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with a diverse array of individuals
  • Ability to self-motivate
  • Clean driving record and background check
