We are seeking a Relief Facilities Technician to join our team. The Facilities Technician is responsible for property maintenance, the care and upkeep of the agency’s properties.

We are looking for people to partner with us to achieve our goal of disrupting the cycle of homelessness for greater Boston families.

What You Will Do:

  • Painting, repairing holes in walls, installing dry wall, door repairs: casings, moldings, locks, and latches.
  • Repair broken window panes to include glazing in new pane, fix window balances, repair torn screens, install window shades, air conditioners, attach gate latches, installing light bulbs, unclogging drains, replacing toilets, sinks and or faucets, unclog toilets, repair leaking faucets, caulking, minor tile replacement and re-grouting.
  • Removal of debris, yard work, grass cutting, general grounds keeping, snow removal using both hand equipment and snow blower.
  • Conducting regular property inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Performing any other task that is necessary to maintain the property in a safe, workable and “cared for” condition.
  • Moving furnishings from one room/unit to another to prepare for an incoming family.
  • Picking up and delivering donations.
  • Performing any other task necessary to support the program goals.
  • Heavy household cleaning such as floor and wall washing, window washing, and cleaning out cellars. 
  • Performing any other task that is required to keep properties presentable, clean and orderly and move-in ready.
  • Complete Work Orders when assigned, and report daily to the Administrative Coordinator that WOs have been completed or need further follow up.
  • Responsible for on-call and emergencies after hours, holidays and weekends as necessary on a rotating schedule

What You Will Need to Bring:

  • Education- High School Diploma
  • Licensure- Valid MA Driver’s License
  • Language- Bilingual- Spanish/Haitian Creole
  • Skills- Ability to ambulate unassisted and lift up to 80 lbs, drive a Transit-250 Cargo Van XL. Work involves, from time to time, hands-on maintenance and repair including climbing ladders, working with hazardous materials and compounds, operating power tools and equipment, exposure to high voltage electrical devices, etc.
  • Experience- Two or more years’ experience in property maintenance, janitorial and/or building trades. 
  • On-Call- Ability to work rotating on-call schedule, including weekend coverage, which may require additional hours as needed to assist in the effective management of the program.
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle for travelling to and from job sites, transporting cleaning supplies, maintenance equipment, and client’s belongings as well as some furnishings.
