Job Description

The City of Boston’s Mayor’s Office of Housing (MOH) has been supporting the development of community gardens, urban farms, food forests and other open spaces for over 25 years through the Grassroots Program. MOH is now launching GrowBoston, a new office expanding MOH’s work in urban agriculture. This office works to increase community gardens and urban farms throughout the city of Boston; develop and implement innovative food production strategies; provide technical assistance to prospective and existing gardens and farms; develop food production resources for gardeners, farmers, and other residents; and coordinate with other City departments associated with food production in Boston.

Under the supervision of the Director of GrowBoston, the GrowBoston Fellow will assist with multiple aspects of the office’s launch, including implementing particular projects as outlined below. This is a paid 14-week opportunity for a passionate student who is interested in exploring urban growing and land use, and supporting the launch of this exciting new office. Part-time or full-time is possible, depending on the student's schedule.

Responsibilities:
● Create, distribute, and analyze gardeners survey
● Conduct compliance visits for existing farm, garden, and open space sites developed
