LISC AmeriCorps Community Engagement Specialist

The AmeriCorps member will provide digital literacy and financial literacy training at “Espacio” - NSCDC’s Family Resource Center which is modeled after LISC’s Financial Opportunity Centers. This member will promote improved digital equity and financial literacy. This member will provide computer and digital literacy classes and trainings in groups for community members as well as coaching one-on-one for residents. This member will also support outreach in the community around these services. The member will provide one-on-one financial counseling to clients as well. Both programs will be a part of the Family Resource Center under the ESPACIO community program space. The member will maintain a caseload of clients to provide one-on-one support as well as enroll them in group workshops. The member will work with existing community programs as well as clients receiving housing services from NSCDC to recruit participants for counseling. The member will maintain a schedule of appointments with clients, aiming to fill up 20 hours a week with one-on-one counseling. An additional 20 hours will be reserved for recruitment, enrollment, preparation, referrals, and follow ups.
