LISC AmeriCorps - Asset Building Coach

This is an AmeriCorps position and as such, the member may not engage in prohibited activities as part of his/her/their service.  The member will have an immediate supervisor at CHAPA and a LISC point of contact throughout the term of service for coaching, mentoring, and training support in order to undertake activities to achieve a community goal.

The member is expected to undertake the following activities toward goal achievement:

• Provides community outreach and recruitment for potential Asset Building program participants in Somerville and its surrounding areas including the development of social media, flyers, tabling, and by visiting other organizations and programs.
• Facilitates “Welcome Sessions” for new program participants.
• Conducts intake sessions with new program participants
• Prepares educational and program promotional materials (i.e. newsletters, flyers, and bulletins)
• Conducts one-on-one financial and career coaching, including the establishment of individual plans and working with program participants to act on those plans, as well as referrals to wrap-around support services.
• Answer client-related phone calls and returned emails
• Facilitates training (e.g, Household budgeting, credit repair, resume writing, interview preparation, etc) for job preparation both individually and in workshops.
• Assists with social media exposure for SCC’s Asset Building Team on social media sites (e.g Facebook, Twitter) with management approval.
• Manage and input data on Salesforce
• Coordinate with other departments/agencies to ensure that clients’ needs are met.
