Job Title: Lead Case Manager

Hours Per Week: 32 hours per week

Salary: Starting at $40,000

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The mission of Family Promise North Shore Boston is to return newly homeless families to economic self-sufficiency, while serving each family that experiences homelessness in a manner that embraces the dignity and strength of the family.

Family Promise North Shore Boston (FPNSB) seeks a full-time Case Manager to assist our families with housing search, housing advocacy, and connections to job and childcare resources. The Case Manager supports three groups of clients: Current Guests of the Family Promise emergency shelter; Graduates of Family Promise; and Shelter and Housing Navigation Clients (SHN). The caseload at any given time will be 4-8 families receiving long-term/ongoing case management, as well as 5-10 families receiving one-time case management each week (SHN Clients).

We seek a dynamic individual with strong organizational and time management skills who will:

  • Take initiative and hold responsibility for assisting clients with obtaining resources and securing shelter or housing
  • Meet weekly with Current Guests of Family Promise for required case management
    • Assist with regular housing search and housing advocacy
    • Attend housing court or housing appeals as needed
  • Regularly check in and provide as-needed case management with recent Graduates of Family Promise
  • Oversee the Shelter and Housing Navigation program (approximately 5-10 one-time clients each week)
    • Track and respond to requests for services (usually families seeking shelter, housing, or financial assistance), providing resource navigation and referrals
    • Supervise any interns assigned to assist with the Shelter and Housing Navigation program
  • Facilitate referrals and connections to resources (i.e. housing, childcare, employment) as needs arise for any/all case management clients
  • Complete and maintain regular case notes documenting all client progress and case manager intervention
  • Coordinate with Community Engagement Manager about guest needs and communication with volunteer coordinators
  • Drive the van to transport guests to host site in the morning or evening at least once a week
  • Help maintain organization of the Day Center and ensure guests receive donations
  • Meet bi-weekly with the Executive Director for supervision 
  • Assist with the on-call schedule by being the emergency contact person for assigned weekends
  • Assist Executive Director and Community Engagement Manager with intakes of new families for the shelter program

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors’ degree preferred or 2+ years of relevant experience in the field of homeless/human services
  • Previous case management experience working with underprivileged communities, specifically families experiencing homelessness
  • Experience or knowledge of how to successfully assist people with housing search and knowledge of various affordable housing programs and tenant/landlord rights in Massachusetts
  • Experience utilizing of trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and client-driven approaches to case management
  • Understanding of the importance of cultural competency in the workplace
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel), Google Suite, and social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
  • A valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Typically work will be performed at 330 Rantoul St. in Beverly, MA. The office is also the location of the Day Center for our guests. DUE TO COVID-19 all staff (excluding the Executive Director) are working remotely until further notice. Prospective candidates will need reliable internet access in order to fulfill the job responsibilities. Hours can be flexible for parents or guardians at home with children during school and daycare closures brought on by the pandemic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to travel back & forth between multiple sites and locations. Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a computer.
