Position Title:                                 Human Resources Manager

Minimum Salary:                          $88,500 (full time equivalent)

Supervision Provided by:            Managing Director

Work Hours:                                  Part-time Position (22 – 32 Hours per week).

Office Hours:                                  M-F; 9:00am to 5:00 pm.

Location:                                         Boston, Massachusetts

General Description of Duties:

 

The Human Resources Manager oversees, executes, and performs all aspects of the agency’s human resources, operations. TAC is looking for a thoughtful team player who values and respects differences of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ability, and socio-economic circumstance, and they actively work to foster an equitable and inclusive experience for everyone in their work. The position manages employee benefits plans, annual performance monitoring, and policies and procedures. Additionally the Human Resources Manager will assist TAC management in maintaining a staff-oriented organizational culture that fosters a sense of belonging while centering equity, diversity, inclusion, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.

 

Responsibilities

  • Leads and informs development of and updates to policies and procedures related to agency human resources and operational functions that support internal equity and inclusion work
  • Ensures that the agency’s internal policies and practices are anti-racist and that they promote equity and inclusion.
  • Understands how power is manifested in matters of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstances   
  • Works with senior staff and project managers to ensure compliance to with applicable human resource laws, rules, regulations and best practices.
  • Oversees employee benefits and manages relationships with benefits providers including health insurance, life insurance, retirement and flexible spending accounts.
  • Leads all day-to-day general human resources duties.
  • Develops and oversees system for annual performance monitoring.
  • Leads on-boarding training for new staff and off-boarding for staff leaving the organization including exit interviews.
  • Tracks leave time usage and accrual and manages communication with staff regarding leave balances.
  • Leads the management of timesheet approvals and archives staff timesheets for need during annual audit
  • Assists managers in the recruitment and hiring process
  • Counsels Management on the resolution of employee relations issues
  • Manages payroll status changes and communicates information to finance for timely processing.
  •  Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, safety, and sexual harassment
  • Works closely with the DEI Director in implementing DEI programs, policies and initiatives.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors in HR/business administration, masters preferred. Additional work or lived experience may substitute for either the Bachelor’s or advanced degree and work experience.
  • A strong commitment to racial equity, dismantling white supremacy, and incorporating  a structural power analysis into work
  • Certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources or Professional in Human Resources, or related certification, required
  • Three to five years of experience in human resources management
  • Experience managing employee benefits plans
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance requirements and labor laws
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually with an open-minded approach to human resources solutions using an equity lens
  • Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development)
  • Experience with a 3rd party payroll system (ADP preferred but not required)
  • Ability to engender trust and respect
  • Ability to work independently
  • Positive attitude and the ability to establish a warm rapport with agency staff
  • Demonstrated ability and integrity to deal effectively with confidential information

Skills and Key Competencies

  • Experience in a not-for-profit organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to ethical actions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Knowledgeable of human resources laws, rules, regulations and best practices
  • Sensitivity to the issues and challenges confronting people with disabilities and people experiencing homelessness
  • Cultural humility.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial, social and economic justice
