Housing Navigator

Franklin County Regional Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) is seeking a qualified individual to join our Housing Consumer Education Center. The Housing Navigator will provide advocacy, education, counseling, and housing search for people with a history of substance use disorder (SUD) and or incarceration.

Requirements:

A qualified candidate must have exceptional people skills in working with individuals and groups. Respect for and sensitivity to the challenges faced by people with low incomes, criminal backgrounds and history of substance misuse, persons experiencing housing instability, and persons with disabilities and elders.  They need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with clients, landlords, service providers, local and state officials, funders, and colleagues.  They need to maintain an understanding HCEC programs and explain these to clients and partners as necessary.

The position requires a candidate to assist individuals with housing applications, provide information and referrals and brief counseling to clients on housing-related issues, specifically including but not limited to homeless prevention, which will include case management as needed. Participation in the advisory group and fostering collaborative relationships with Community Legal Aid, the Opioid Task Force’s Housing & Workforce development Committee, and other community entities working to address housing needs to impacted population.  The Housing Navigator may be required to travel across Franklin County and the North Quabbin and occasional travel elsewhere for meetings and workshops. Familiarity with web based communication tools and social media is required.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, colleagues, and landlords. They must have ability to organize and plan work in a timely manner and to handle high volume of demanding work, while completing complex tasks, with little supervision.
