Way Finders' Rental Assistance department is piloting a new program! Massachusetts recently launched the Supporting Neighborhood Opportunity in Massachusetts (SNO-Mass), a housing mobility program that supports low-income families with Housing Choice Vouchers to move to areas of higher opportunity – neighborhoods that offer strong schools, safe environments, and economic opportunities for residents. SNO-Mass is designed to help reduce the barriers families often face in finding housing and moving to higher opportunity areas; SNO-Mass services include mobility counseling and housing search support for households, financial assistance with security deposits and realtor fees, higher payment standards and outreach and enhanced support for landlords in qualifying areas, and post-move support for households
We are searching for a Program Specialist responsible for the day-to-day coordination and delivery of services, assisting families with housing search, providing educational and informative workshops and training. The Program Specialist will provide motivational counseling to participants who are interested in moving to a high-opportunity community. They will develop family plans, and assess the schooling needs of the children in the household. The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of supportive services in areas of opportunity, and will be able to make appropriate referrals to help remove any barrier to a successful opportunity to move.
This position requires an outgoing, energetic individual who is self-motivated. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required. Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in relevant subject matter such as social work, or other social services; minimum 3-5 years of experience in relevant field is required. Wage between $19.03 - $22.82 depending on qualifications plus excellent benefits.
