POSITION SUMMARY (Full Description Next Pages)

As a function of the City’s strategic housing plan, the Project Manager will assist all facets of housing initiatives through planning, program management, and the coordination of Department efforts towards affordable housing production, preservation, and rehabilitation. Responsible for the coordination and project management of the City’s housing development projects and housing programs. Professional work in meeting the City’s comprehensive housing agenda. Under the Direction of the Director, manage housing programs and development projects through the planning, design, and implementation phases. Effectively and in a timely fashion assure the completion of assigned responsibilities and actions related to high quality housing project and program management.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

BA/BS in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field of study and two (2) years of experience in a responsible position related to housing planning, development, and/or program and project management.  

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

Negotiation and problem resolution skills demonstrated through similar prior experience. Familiarity with the Community Development Block Grant and other state and federal housing programs. Very good communication skills. Ability to effectively engage residents and community stakeholders. Working knowledge of urban and housing planning principles, program management practices, and housing policy. Combination of relevant education and experience will be considered. Must be ambulatory and have transportation for site activity requirements. Must possess analytical capacity for program management, budgeting, and state and federal regulations. Experience in housing finance, development, and/or construction helpful. Bilingual (Spanish) helpful.
