Job Description

The House Manager is responsible for maintaining the overall management and maintenance of the residence and supporting the staff by providing our clients with quality services that are in compliance with agency standards and contractual requirements.    

Typical functions include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the daily program operations like purchasing and management of food, supplies inventories, coordination of deliveries, and administrative duties
  • Ensure that safety standards are being met at all times and conduct monthly fire drills for residents
  • Maintain schedule cleanliness and maintenance of the program (among other this includes taking out the rubbish, sweeping and mopping when needed) 
  • Provide milieu coverage, including:  monitoring and assessing the integrity of the program’s therapeutic milieu; empowering clients to act in accordance with the guidelines of the program; assisting clients in self-administration of medications; conducting controlled substance counts; conduct rounds; answering phones and the front door.
  • Make emergency referrals (e.g. detox programs, DTA, hospital and after care placement).
  • Manage linen supplies and coordinate laundry activities as necessary.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate and/or co-facilitate client groups and complete required group facilitation documentation.
  • Assist in the orientation of new clients by completing admission paperwork; give a tour of the program and providing linens/hygiene items when needed.
  • Input client/program data in to Electronic Health Records and The Virtual Gateway (ESM).

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year work experience in the field of addiction, HIV, and/or mental health or a certificate from a recognized counseling program or course of instruction.
  • Must be 25 years old with a valid Massachusetts's Driver's License with a safe driving point of 98, 99, 00, 01, 02 or 03.
  • Strong organizational, record keeping, writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a professional team.
  • Ability to relate to clients in an instructive, directive, firm yet compassionate manner.
  • Knowledge of the addiction recovery process, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multi-cultural settings with diverse client groups.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Full Time Position: Monday-Friday 7:30 am-3:30 pm ( 40 Hours)

Rate: $16.09/hr

Victory House, in Boston’s South End, provides residential treatment programs for men dealing with substance use disorders. Our four-to-eight month program can accommodate up to 24 residents and has a long history of providing treatment to individuals. A welcoming environment for men of all cultures, Victory House is also a long-time leader in providing substance use disorder treatment to people living with HIV/AIDS.
