Yesterday, the Massachusetts House of Representatives concluded debate on its FY2020 state budget. For a table showing the final funding amounts for CHAPA's budget priorities, click here.
During budget debate, the House approved additional funding for two of CHAPA's budget priorities through the amendment process:
- Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP) (7004-9030) - The House approved $400,000 more for AHVP, for a total of $7,550,000 for the program in the House budget. Thanks to amendment sponsor Rep. Marjorie Decker and all the co-sponsors for supporting AHVP.
- Housing Consumer Education Centers (HCECs) (7004-3036) - The House approved $250,000 more for HCECs, for a total of $375,000 for the program in the House budget. Thanks to amendment sponsor Rep. Kevin Honan and all the co-sponsors for supporting HCECs.
Thanks also to House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Rep. Aaron Michlewitz for their leadership on the House FY2020 budget and for their support of affordable housing, homelessness prevention, and community development resources.
The budget process now turns to the Senate. The Senate Ways and Means Committee will release its budget proposal in mid-May followed by budget debate during the last week of May.
