HUD Makes $150 Million Available for New Rental Vouchers for Persons with Disabilities

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has made $150 million available for new Mainstream Housing Choice Vouchers for persons with disabilities.

HUD has released a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for housing authorities to apply to receive vouchers. Only public housing authorities that already administer Housing Choice Vouchers are eligible to apply for funding. Applications are due September 5, 2019.

HUD published a similar NOFA last year and distributed 550 Mainstream Vouchers to housing authorities in Massachusetts.

The NOFA states that HUD is prioritizing PHAs that target funds to assist persons with disabilities who are transitioning out of institutional settings, at risk of institutionalization, currently or at risk of becoming homeless, or clients in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project.
