Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association is proud to celebrate 51 years of expanding opportunities for everyone in Massachusetts to have a safe, healthy, and affordable place to call home.

Note: Parking is available at the Boston Convention Center for $18. There will be a shuttle from the parking lot to the main entrance for your convenience.

Community Service Award
ANDREW DEFRANZA
Harborlight Community Partners
Andrew DeFranza has served as the Executive Director of Harborlight Community Partners (HCP) since 2007 and has been in leadership roles in the non profit sector for the last 19 years, in both New England and the upper Mid West. Prior to leading HCP, Andrew was the Executive Director of a homelessness organization in Milwaukee.
Andrew is passionately dedicated to creating housing for all, while challenging the systems that construct barriers to affordable housing development.
Community Engagement Award
NILAYA MONTALVO
Homes for Families
Nilaya Montalvo is currently the Deputy Director at Homes for Families. She has over 10 years of experience in community organizing and leadership development work. She joined Homes for Families as a community organizer and facilitator and has since trained hundreds of families on the importance of understanding and influencing policies and practices, raising awareness, community organizing, the role of local government, and advocating as agents of change.
Nilaya is deeply invested in the mission of ending poverty, violence, homelessness and moving towards a fair and just global community.
Emerging Leader Award
THADINE BROWN
City of Boston, Community Preservation Program
Thadine Brown is the first Director of Community Relations for Boston’s Community Preservation program. She served as Treasurer for the successful Yes for a Better Boston ballot campaign to bring the Community Preservation Act to Boston in 2016. Thadine has also served on the board of the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA) since 2009 and currently serves as Vice President of the Board.
Thadine is committed to bringing residents into the neighborhood planning process to ensure that investments further each community’s vision and expand opportunities for more people to have stable and affordable homes.
