Young Professionals Program

CHAPA's Young Professionals Group (CHAPA YP Group) is an initiative CHAPA has developed for younger professionals in the housing and planning fields. CHAPA envisions this effort will better engage younger professionals in housing and planning with the work we do on our policy agenda, while providing opportunities for professional development and collaboration to those who participate.

The CHAPA YP Group holds a monthly series called the “CHAPA Young Professionals Dialogue Series.”  The goal of the series is to allow an opportunity to engage community development professionals while highlighting trends that involve housing in connection with other fields in planning and community development.

Mentoring Program

CHAPA and the Alliance for Racial Equity partner each year to present: The Mentoring Program. 

The Mentoring Program is designed to promote and support a culture of learning and mentoring within the community development industry. During its ten-year tenure, the program seeks to enhance the preparation of young professionals with 1-2 years of experience; mid to senior level professionals, and board members who demonstrate potential for advancement and growth into positions of leadership. In past years, our participants have came from professional fields covering non-profit and for profit organizations, community development agencies, state and quasi- state organizations, city and town offices, academia, and independent consultants. 

The Mentoring Program helps facilitate effective and meaningful relationships between and amongst community development professionals through a nine-month intensive designed to help foster relationships, introduce networking techniques and share industry knowledge through the lens of racial and social equity.
