Job Description

About the Boston Farms Community Land Trust:

Boston Farms Community Land Trust is a community land development and management nonprofit. We build and protect farm land across the neighborhoods of Boston, making our farms accessible to Black and Brown neighborhood farmers and supporting their success. As a community land trust, we are structured to enact local and collective control of land. We own 5 sites and will expand further in the coming years.

Through our Board of Director and Committees, Boston Farms connects community members, leaders, and farmers to the restorative work of regenerative agriculture, land stewardship, community development, and business development. We thrive on building a robust network of Black and Brown leaders from across Boston and sectors spanning from agriculture, real estate development, finance, and education to further the work of land justice in our communities.

The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring sound financial management, and adopting appropriate policies that position the organization for success. The Board Commitments include:

  • 1-year terms: remote attendance to monthly meetings (2 hours in duration); 1 quarterly in-person meeting.
  • 1 in-person retreat at a local farm or on land that inspires a deeper understanding of land stewardship.
  • Service on 1 of the board committees.
  • Building and strengthening local cross-sector networks that support the mission.
  • Engagement in and leading of fundraising efforts to support the financial sustainability of the organization.
