Important Consumer Information for Homebuyers and Homeowners

National Do Not Call Registry
www.donotcall.gov

The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. You can register your home or mobile phone for free. Your registration will be effective for five years.

www.optoutprescreen.com

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the right to "opt-out" of receiving unsolicited firm offers of credit or insurance. Completing the free opt-out form on this web site will prevent, for five years, consumer credit reporting companies from providing your credit file information for firm offers.

www.annualcreditreport.com

You may use this site to request a free credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. This is the only site authorized by the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies for this purpose.

AnnualCreditReport.com will not approach you via email, telemarketing or direct mail solicitations.

Massachusetts Division of Banks

The Division of Banks has extended the hours of its mortgage hotline from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Homeowners are urged to call the Division at 1-800-495-BANK (2265) and can file a consumer complaint form by accessing this link: Consumer Complaint Form.
